I guess the detox thing is working. I'm drinking craploads of water- it helps that the vitamins and herbs are making me thirsty. I'm staying away from flour most of the time- had some yesterday in Protein Chips, but I wanted to try them. But it was Tiffany's birthday yesterday and I avoided booze AND the birthday cake. Go me. I asked for a club soda in a highball with lemon and lime wedges so it would look like I was drinking a vodka with soda.

I'm averaging about 45% carbs, 35% protein and 20% fat- which is what I'm aiming for and I haven't been able to achieve that before the detox diet. I'm doing this with fruits and vegetables, Ezekial 4:9 cereal, brown rice, beans, almonds, fish and chicken and... SMOOTHIE KING! I love Smoothie King now. I had my first low-carb strawberry smoothie yesterday and I loved it so much, I'm planning on having another for dinner tonight. But I'm getting just under 1200 calories a day- I'm aiming for at least 1200, but it's harder than you might think.

I also bought some Pina Colada whey protein powder so I can make some smoothies at home. So far, I haven't had time to do that in the morning. I'm still going to the gym but I'm not running. Elliptical and jumping rope- I'm a little too tired in the morning for anything more strenuous.

Anyway, at the weekend I was fluctuating between 179 and 182 and I'd been doing that for weeks.

This morning I was 172. And I've been on my little detox for 3 days. I hope that's the food thing and not the herb thing. I can maintain the food thing.

Congratulations! I'm betting it's the food thing :D

And yes, I know the 1200 calorie thing -- hard! I really should do it now, but argh. Maybe I should consider it to at least get me back to where I was. Hmm.... I used to count calories for a year, I think it was? Felt like a year... I got massively burned out on it so I stopped. I honestly can't remember if it helped or not (fuzzy memory with that particular thing except the annoyance of counting calories and customizing my calorie counting site is quite clear in my memory).

Keep up the great work!

Look into Ezekiel bread... when we were watching our bread intake, we'd allow ourselves that brand. The slices are smaller, and I can't remember what the nutritional stuff is with it, but it has to be better than the regular "toxic" breads at the store. Just a thought! :) WW pita might be just fine too, though. Especially "earning" it after a particularly good day or squeezing it in there shifting things around.

One reason counting calories worked for me in the past to some degree? I wasn't eating tons :P I kept things simple. Just having to add anything extra to my list like "mustard" (even if it would fit in with my calorie levels)... I was feeling too lazy to record every detail, so I kept from adding too much. I kept everything small and simple so I wouldn't have to spend too much time recording it. Hahahah. I guess that is one side of it.

Oh my gosh! I'm so glad I mentioned it -- I almost didn't since you were eating the cereal and I briefly thought "maybe she's already read the ingredients and decided it wouldn't work... I can't remember why we ate it now, to see if it would be an option!!"

I love Ezekial bread, too... unfortunately one of the reasons we stopped using it is because the darned stuff went stale or moldy on us so fast. I've found that a lot of vegan products get crap treatment at stores. Tofutti ice cream is wonderful stuff, but they must let it thaw and then refreeze it because it gets ruined. Turns nasty -- and I know the difference because it really is horribly different.

I don't know what happens with the Ezekial bread though... maybe we just can't seem to luck out with it. I'll have to see if my hubby wants to try that again if we cut out bread for a short while. We've got a lot of things to think about to get weight loss back on track.

Yup! We refrigerate it... I'll have to see if there's something with the air in there like you said. Maybe we can find an Extra Special way to store it, too and really keep it sealed tight.

I'm craving the stuff, and you're right... there is protein and other goodies in it. I'll mention it to hubby. We might not always be able to avoid bread, and it's nice to have that option.
